The programme aims to provide students with a broad, analytical integrated study of business management from a global perspective together with the necessary skills, knowledge and competencies specific to business management through a multi-disciplinary approach. This will involve consideration of a wide range of external and internal factors, which will include inter alia, economic, cultural social, political and technological issues. In addition, the programme seeks to lay a firm foundation for those students wishing to continue their academic studies at a higher level.
The BA (Hons) Global Business Management (Strategic Management) (Top-Up) is a one-year top up pathway degree that consists of core modules and optional modules determined by the college.
This module aims to assess the impact of effective global human resource management on an organisation’s international operations. The role of multinational companies (MNCs) will be centre-stage in the analysis of global HRM functions – including recruitment and selection, training and development, and pay and reward. This module also provides an understanding of how globalisation and national contexts have shaped and influenced MNCs and their HRM policies and practices.
This module introduces the student to the fundamental principles of Supply Chain systems within a business context. It aims to enable the study of global supply chain systems and networks , their management and the changing external context in which they operate.
The aim of this module is to introduce students to the economic theory of international trade and to make links between these core principles and business strategy as applied to global business.
The aim of this module is to introduce the student to the theory and practice of strategic management and the holistic way in which it draws upon a wide variety of managerial functions in its creation. It will establish the main principles against which strategic decisions are made, how strategy is created and the forms it may take, together with the problems and issues associated with its implementation.
The aim of this module is to give students knowledge and understanding of the nature and operation of the Global business environment. It will illustrate, through example, the interrelated nature of business activity, in the context of a digitally enabled global environment and the pressures and tensions that shape the process of business decision making. Through analysing key themes, for example an appreciation of ethical issues, and by way of case studies, data analysis and other business information, the module aims that students are fully conversant with fast changing business environment, how it might be effectively evaluated and understood.
Global Financial Markets are at the heart of international business and a clear balanced understanding of the opportunities and challenges arising from their construction and operation is essential in today’s global economy. The module considers the historical developments of these markets, both real and financial, and gives platform for understanding the ongoing developments in the balance of economic and financial power.
Innovation and creativity have become critical skills for achieving success. The need for creative problem solving for management problems require creative insights in order to find the most suitable solutions. This module aims to challenge the student to investigate problems, identify solutions by looking at things from different perspectives and applying theoretical principles within a global context. The aim is to increase productivity for organisations with creative endeavour at their heart within innovation-based, multicultural societies.
The aims of this module are to introduce students to the theory and practice of managing a global brand within the competitive environment of the 21st century Marketplace. The module will help students to build an understanding of the management activities which are needed in the 21st century to effectively manage a global brand in the international marketplace. It will also provide the theoretical underpinnings of global brand management to explore in depth activities of global brands using conceptual frameworks to understand the remit of international and global management within the 21st century market. Finally, students will be given the opportunity to apply the analytical and business skills built in previous modules to management activities in the global market decision-making process.
The aim of this module is to introduce cross-cultural communication differences in various business contexts and examine how cultural attitudes influence the way that international management is conducted. Students will gain an understanding of the cultural challenges that organisations face nowadays and the importance of managing cultural diversity in the workplace in order to achieve long term success.
This module introduces the student to the fundamental principles and activities of Logistics and its management both within a business and supply chain context. It aims to enable the study of logistics and international supply chain networks, their management and the changing external context in which they operate.
This module aims to equip students with knowledge and understanding of current organisational approaches to the attraction, development and retention of global talent. Managing talent across an organisation’s global network presents many challenges including expatriation and repatriation issues, cross-cultural adjustment of employees, and operating in different regulatory and economic environments. This module also encourages critical reflection of how global talent management is affected by policy, society and economy.
This module provides students with the knowledge to explore and assess a business venture and to present heir findings in both verbal and written format. It aims to develop relevant enterprising and entrepreneurial knowledge and skills which will enable the student to recognise opportunities and take responsible and measured risks within the world of global business.
At least 18 years old
- Applicants must possess at least Higher National Diploma, Foundation Degree or NARIC qualification equivalent to 1st and 2nd External Degree Programme (EDP).
- Applicants may apply on the basis of RPL and RPEL for admission with Credit. Such claims must conform to CARDIFF MET regulations for advanced standing and applicants must submit a portfolio of evidence. This will be accessed by the programme team and a report sent for confirmation to the School. The details required in this portfolio will depend upon the nature of the credit being claimed.

- Students whose first language is other than English will need to provide evidence of fluency to at least an IELTS 6.0 standard, a minimum score of 5.5 in each element,
