National Library

The National Library is located in Bugis. Recently rebuilt in 2005, it is made up of two 16-storey blocks linked by “sky bridges” on every level. The Central Lending Library is on Basement 1, while the Lee Kong Chian Reference Library occupies Levels 7-13.

The National Library not only provides knowledge, it is also a meeting point for people, and a place for relaxation.

For the convenience of library goers, a bookdrop and self-service kiosks are located at the ground-floor plaza and lobby area, so users can return borrowed materials and/or apply for library membership without having to enter the library.

The Central Lending Library is stocked with 200,000 items, including books for young and old, and a wide variety of foreign and local newspapers.

The Lee Kong Chian Reference Library boasts of books on the following topics: Social Sciences and Humanities, Science and Technology, Arts, Business, Chinese, Malay and Tamil, Asian Children’s, Singapore and South East Asian, and Donors’.
