Introduction

General English Course is a course which helps English students who wish to have the ability, skills and confidence in coping with their work or studies lives in the English-speaking environments.

The course is designed to meet the following aims:

  • To help students deal with their work and studies in English-speaking environment
  • To develop students’ abilities and confidence
  • To enable students to build up a solid foundation in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, the students should be able to:

  • Listen, speak, read and write English in the correct grammatical rules and proper sentence structures.
  • Apply the wide vocabulary obtained during the course and increase the grammatical control on academic and non-academic writing and speaking.
  • Confidently deal with situations likely to occur in working or studying life where the language is spoken.

Course Information

Course Duration:

Total Duration: 3 months
Total Course Hours: 48 hours

Certification:

After completing all the levels of the General English Course, students will be given a Certificate by Beacon International College.

Course Details

Classes

The course is mainly conducted in the classroom via face-to-face learning which encourages student-teacher interaction. Students are encouraged to attend field trips organised by the school to encourage experiential learning.

Assessment

The General English Course will be characterized by both lectures and task-based activities. A student-centered approach will be employed to produce positive results. Emphasis will be placed on short presentations, focused exercises, role-play, student-interaction, pair-work, student tasks, continuous assessment, projects and final exams.
