Introduction
This course is designed to give learners the opportunity to:
- Offer you the opportunity to complete a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion within one year, with the option to progress to a postgraduate course at the University of East London. Upon graduation, you will become a UEL alumnus, making you eligible for an alumni discount on postgraduate study.
- Offer you the opportunity to complete a BA (Hons) degree in Fashion within one year, with the option to progress to a postgraduate course externally.
- Enable you to build on your success and provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience within the fashion industry.
- Offer a dynamic and stimulating learning environment, supported by modern, innovative resources, with a strong focus on fashion business, research, marketing, branding and enterprise.
- Provide industry insights through guest lectures, seminars, external visits, and collaboration with fashion professionals.
- Offer opportunities to develop, apply, and showcase fashion business skills through engaging and innovative real-world projects.

Course Content
The Bachelor of Arts Honours Fashion Studies (Top-up) comprises of six (6) compulsory units from the following list determined by the College:
- To introduce students to operations that exists within fashion organisations, such as research and product development, the supply chain through to logistics, promotion and the new circular fashion industry.
- To introduce students to different definitions and concepts of fashion marketing & PR in a global context.
- To promote an understanding of the strategic factors determining the extent to which standardisation in strategy and implementation is appropriate for success in international markets.
This module allows you to work directly with industry to define and execute creative
solutions and develop a creative portfolio of work within the creative industries.
You will learn how to freelance and set up your own businesses by examining and understanding future roles within the creative industries.
You will collaborate across all fashion titles to plan and organise a showcase of your work
at a relevant trade fair or sell designs in a pop-up shop. By utilising professional skills, you
will work in teams alongside staff to design and implement creative concepts for a given
market sector.
You will embark upon a self-initiated line of study in order to thoroughly research, develop and experiment with your chosen concept.
Advanced concepts, research and development skills are explored in preparation for your Final Major Project: Realisation module.
Using project guidelines from previous briefs, you will have the opportunity to write your own brief with developing outcomes, based on your personal research and interests.
You will either create a collection of products, initiate a business plan or propose alternate fashion outputs.
Building on research from your Final Major project Theoretical Identity module, you will realise your ideas through the creative production of a physical/ digital outcome based on your specific subject medium.
Your outcomes should relate and focus on your own personal career aspirations and subject specialism.
You will have the opportunity to design your own negotiated project brief and develop external and multidisciplinary collaborations to support your career launch and build a signature for your exit portfolio.
This module allows students to work directly with the creative industries and learn how to freelance and gain greater understanding of potential future career paths.
Students will produce work and enter subject specific design competitions both national and international.
Students will create a design dossier documenting their primary and secondary research findings and development work.
Students will define and execute creative solutions in the development of an innovative professional portfolio of work relevant to their interests and skill sets.
Students will have the opportunity to collaborate on a specific project/ competition to gain team building skills and project management skills.
You will develop your ability to produce industry standard portfolios reflecting your skills and expertise, ready for graduate level jobs.
You will be able to develop your professional identity by demonstrating your entrepreneurial thinking into your exit portfolio which will provide insight into the complexity of the fashion industry with consumer behaviour, business models, business funding and different career alternatives.
Further insight on business strategy such as investment capital and start up campaigns will be delivered.

At least 18 years old
Academic Requirement
- At least Higher National Diploma, Foundation Degree, Polytechnics’ Diplomas in Fashion/Textile-related field (equivalent to 1st and 2nd Year EDP).
- Applicants may apply on the basis of RPL and RPEL for admission with Credit, subject to University’s assessment on a case-by-case basis
English Entry Requirement
- Students whose first language is other than English will need to provide evidence of fluency to at least an IELTS 5.5 with minimum of 5.5 in each element,
- or the equivalent
